The Blog System I Use to Get Free Traffic and Leads
A blog brings free search traffic to a page you own. Here is the simple blog system I use, what it does, what it costs and who it fits.

If you want free traffic that keeps coming after you stop posting, a blog is still one of the best tools there is. A blog post answers a question people type into Google, it stays up for years, and every visitor lands on a page you own instead of somebody else's app. The blog system I use is built into GoBeaug Links, and in this post I'll show you exactly what it does and who it fits.
Why social media alone gives you so little traffic
Most beginners start by posting on Facebook, TikTok or Instagram. That's fine, but a post on social media lives for a day or two. Then it's buried, and the people who saw it can't find it again.
I learned the harder lesson the hard way. I've been in affiliate marketing since 2012, and for over ten years I built my business inside one company. When it shut down, I lost every contact I had. That's why I care so much about owning your own page, your own blog and your own list. I wrote more about that in why affiliate marketers build an email list.
A blog fixes the short-life problem. A good post answers one question, and search engines can keep sending people to it month after month.
What people usually try (free and paid)
To be fair, you have plenty of options:
- Free blog sites like Blogger or Medium. They cost nothing, but you don't fully control the page, and it's harder to send readers to your own offers.
- WordPress on your own hosting. Very powerful, but you deal with hosting, themes, plugins, updates and security. A lot of beginners stall right there.
- Website builders like Wix or Squarespace. Easier, but they often run a monthly fee, and the blog is one small piece.
Any of these can work. The question is which one you'll actually keep using every week, because traffic from a blog comes from consistency, not from one perfect post.
How my blog system works, step by step
The blogging system comes with the Pro level of GoBeaug Links. Here's what it does, tied to the traffic problem:
- Search basics on every post. You fill in a clear title, the web address, a short search description and keywords. That's the stuff Google reads, and the form tells you what to put in each box.
- Help when you're stuck. There's a "Stuck on what to write?" button with ideas, and a writing helper that can give you a first draft from your title. You still read it and make it yours.
- Schedule ahead. Write when you have time and set a post to go live by itself later. I publish a new post every morning this way.
- Pictures and videos. Add a picture to the top of the post, upload pictures inside it, or put a video right in the post.
- Built-in reach. Your blog has its own RSS feed so people can follow it, your posts are listed for search engines, and every post shows "Keep reading" links to your other posts so visitors stay longer.
- Comments and view counts. Readers can comment, and you can see which posts get views, so you know what to write more of.
Turning blog traffic into leads
Traffic is step one. The goal is to turn a visitor into someone you can follow up with.
Your blog sits on the same site as your link page, your business card and your income streams page, so a reader can go from a post to everything else you do in one tap. With the optional Leads & Follow-Up add-on you also get capture pages and ready-made follow-up emails, so a visitor can become a lead you can email later. If your goal is fewer scattered links, my post on one link page instead of too many links explains how the pieces fit.
I won't pretend a blog guarantees traffic, leads or sales. It doesn't. It gives your effort somewhere to build up instead of disappearing.
Who this fits, and who should pick something else
This fits you if you're a beginner, you don't want to deal with hosting and plugins, and you want your blog, link page and offers in one place.
Pick something else if you already run a WordPress site you're happy with, or you need a full online store. If you just want to try things out first, you can start with the free GoBeaug Social account and move up later. New to all of this? Start with my plain-English guide to affiliate marketing.

Frequently asked questions
Does blogging still work for free traffic in 2026?
Yes. People still search for answers every day, and a post that answers a real question can keep getting found. It's slower than a viral video, but it lasts much longer.
How often should I post on my blog?
As often as you can keep up. One helpful post a week is a fine start. Consistency beats volume.
Do I need to be a good writer?
No. Write like you talk. Answer one question plainly, use short paragraphs, and use the writing helper if you get stuck.
Can a blog get me leads?
It can, when the post points readers to a next step, like a free resource or a capture page where they leave their email. Leads still depend on your topic, your offer and your follow-up.
Is there a free way to start?
Yes. GoBeaug Social is free. The blogging system itself comes with Pro.
