How We Protect Your Data

Payments

• Card payments are handled by Stripe, one of the largest payment companies. Your card number goes straight to Stripe. GoBeaug Links never sees it and never stores it.
• Stripe messages to our site are checked with a secret signature, so nobody can fake a "payment received" message.
• When a member connects their own Stripe account, their secret key is locked (encrypted) before it is saved.

Your account

• Everything travels over a secure, encrypted connection (the padlock in your browser), and browsers are told to always use it.
• Passwords must be strong, and they are stored in a scrambled form. Nobody, including us, can read your password.
• New accounts confirm their email address with a one-time code.
• Only active members can log in. When an account is closed, its login stops working.

Your privacy in GoBeaug Social

• You choose who can see your profile: everyone, members only, your team only, or only you.
• You can hide from search and member lists, turn off your online dot, show as "A member" to visitors, and choose who can message you.
• Messages are seen only by you and the person you are talking with. You can block anyone, any time.
• Report anything that is wrong. Reports are private, and a post or comment reported by several members is hidden right away until the owner looks at it.
• A profile photo is required to post, comment or message, so you always know who you are talking to.

Behind the scenes

• Every request is checked on our servers, not just on your screen. Nobody can read your messages, change your posts or use paid tools by tricking the page.
• There are limits on how fast anyone can sign up, post, send messages or friend requests, which stops spam and bots. New free accounts cannot post links or photos for their first 3 days.
• Pages that members build cannot run harmful code on the rest of the site.
• We collect as little as we need. We never ask for your Social Security number or bank account number.
• The site runs on large, professionally managed services: Vercel for hosting, Convex for the database and Stripe for payments.

What you can do

• Use a strong password that you do not use anywhere else.
• Never share your password or a login code with anyone. GoBeaug Links will never ask you for them.
• Be careful with links and offers from people you do not know, and report anything suspicious.
