Link in Bio Setup Guide Part 2: Make Social Media Work
Part 2 of our beginner link in bio guide: how to set up your page, pick your links, and share it on social media so people know where to go next.
Sammy Beaugard
In Part 1, we covered what a link in bio page is: one simple page that holds all your important links, so your social media profiles can point to a single place. Now let's set yours up and put it to work.
Don't worry if you're brand new. You don't need any tech skills for this. If you can fill out a form and copy a link, you can do it.
Step 1: Start With the Basics
Before you add a single link, get the top of your page right. This is the first thing people see when they tap the link on your social media profile.
- A clear photo of you. A friendly face builds trust faster than a logo.
- Your name. Use the same name people see on your social media accounts.
- A short bio. One or two sentences about who you are and what you share.
Keep it simple. Something like "I share easy tips for beginners starting something online" is plenty.
Step 2: Pick Your Links Carefully
This is where most beginners go wrong. They add every link they have, and the page turns into a messy list nobody reads.
Start with three to five links. Good ones to begin with:
- Your newest blog post or video
- Your main social media accounts
- One thing you want people to do, like join your email list
- A way to contact you
Put the most important link at the top. Most people only look at the first few.
Fewer links means more clicks. When you give people too many choices, they often choose nothing.
Step 3: Write Clear Link Labels
Each link needs a short label that tells people exactly what they'll get. "Click here" doesn't say much. "Read my beginner guide" or "Watch my latest video" does.
Think about it from your visitor's side. They just came from social media and they're curious. Make the next step easy to understand.
Step 4: Add Your Page to Your Social Media Profiles
Your page only helps if people can find it. Copy your link and paste it into the bio or website spot on each of your social media profiles.
- Instagram and TikTok: add it to the website field on your profile.
- YouTube: add it to your channel links and your video descriptions.
- Facebook: add it to your intro and pin a post that mentions it.
Then remind people it's there. A simple "link in my bio" at the end of a post or video goes a long way.
Step 5: Keep It Fresh
A link in bio page isn't something you set up once and forget. When you post something new, swap it to the top. Remove links that are old or no longer matter.
Take five minutes once a week to look it over. Ask yourself: if a stranger landed here today, would they know what to do next?
Take It One Step at a Time
You don't have to get everything perfect today. Add your photo, write your bio, pick a few links, and share it on one social media account. That's a real start.
Every week, make one small improvement. Over time, your link in bio page becomes a simple home base that ties all your social media together.
