If you want a professional email address with your own name in it, like you@yourname.ws, instead of a free Gmail address, you need two things: a domain name and an email service that works with it. One simple, low-cost way to get both together is Global Domains International (GDI), which bundles a domain, email, a website builder and hosting for one monthly price.
I'm Sammy, and this is the exact reason I joined GDI: I wanted a domain that fits my brand, with a matching custom email.
Why does a Gmail address look less professional?
Gmail is free and reliable. The problem is how it looks when you're building a brand or small business.
When someone gets an email from yourname.business123@gmail.com, it reads like a personal account. When they get one from an address that matches your website or your name, it reads like a real business. That small detail matters when you send follow-up emails to new leads or put your contact info on a link page or video.
A custom domain also ties your email, website and links together under one name people can remember.
How to get a custom email address: the usual options
People usually try one of these routes. Each one works; they just fit different people.
1. Stay on free Gmail or Outlook. Cost: nothing. Downside: no custom domain, so you still look like a personal account. If you're just starting and not sending business email yet, this is honestly fine.
2. Buy a domain from a registrar, then pay for email separately. Many people buy a domain from a domain company and then add a business email service from a big provider such as Google Workspace or Microsoft 365. This is a solid, professional setup. The downside for beginners is that it's two (or more) accounts, two bills, and some technical setup like DNS records.
3. Use email forwarding only. Some domain companies let you forward mail sent to your custom address into your existing Gmail inbox. This can be cheap or free with the domain, but replying from the custom address takes extra setup, and it's easy to get wrong.
4. Get a bundle that includes the domain and email together. This is where a service like GDI comes in: one account, one monthly price, and the domain and email are made to work together.
How GDI solves the custom email problem
Global Domains International is a domain, website builder, hosting and email service. Here's how each piece ties back to the problem, as listed when I wrote this:
- A domain is included. Your plan comes with a .ws domain, so you can pick a name that fits you or your brand. Other domain extensions may cost extra.
- Custom email on that domain. This is the part I joined for: an email address that matches your domain, so your emails look like they come from a business, not a personal account.
- A website builder and hosting. If you want a simple site at that same domain, you can build it without paying a separate hosting company.
- One monthly price. There's a 7-day trial, then $10 per month. That keeps it to one account and one bill instead of stitching several services together.
There's also a practical branding trick I like. A domain doesn't have to point to a full website. You can forward your domain to a link page or an affiliate link, so you share a short, memorable name instead of a long, messy URL. I made the video showing how to forward a GDI domain to an affiliate link, and it's used in Instant Cash Code's onboarding.
Back when I joined GDI, I also used a link-in-bio tool called clicks.ws. That experience is part of why I later built my own link page system. If you're juggling a lot of links, I wrote about that in too many links for one bio? one link page, no monthly fee.
Who GDI fits, and who should choose something else
GDI fits you if:
- You want a custom email and a domain in one place without managing several accounts
- A .ws domain works for your brand
You may want something else if:
- You need a .com or another specific extension and want the lowest possible price on that exact domain; compare registrars first
- Your business already runs on Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 and you need their shared calendars, documents and team tools
- You don't send any business email yet. In that case, free Gmail is fine for now, and you can upgrade later

Frequently asked questions
Can I get a custom email address without buying a website?
Yes. A custom email only needs a domain and an email service. With GDI, the domain and email come in the same plan, and the website builder is there if you want it later, but you don't have to build a site to use the email.
Is a .ws domain good for business email?
It works the same as any other domain for sending and receiving email. If a .ws name fits your brand and is easy to say out loud, it can work well. Other extensions may cost extra, so check first.
Is a custom email address worth $10 a month?
It depends on what you're doing. If you send emails to leads, customers or partners, a matching domain and email helps you look like a real business. If you're not sending business email yet, free Gmail is fine, and you can switch when you're ready.
Can I forward my domain to a link page or affiliate link?
Yes. Forwarding means anyone who types your domain lands on the page you choose, like your link page or an offer. I made the video that shows how to forward a GDI domain to an affiliate link, and it's part of Instant Cash Code's onboarding.
How much does GDI cost?
As listed when I wrote this, there's a 7-day trial, then $10 per month, with a .ws domain included. Other domain extensions may cost extra. Prices can change, so check the current details on the official GDI page before you sign up.
Ready to look more professional online?
If you're tired of a free email address that doesn't match your brand, you can start the GDI 7-day trial and set up your custom domain and email. Check the current price and details on the official page first.
What's stopping you from getting your own domain name: the cost, the setup, or picking the right name? Tell me in the comments.
Results vary. Your results depend on your own effort, skills and situation, and many people earn nothing.
